Universal Children's Day

Maha - Universal Childrens Day Winner 2010

November 20 is a special day.  It’s been designated as Universal Children’s Day. It’s a day that recognizes that children have the rights to health, safety, education and respect, not only in Canada, but around the world.  It’s a day to remind us that every child is an important and valued member of society, who needs love and respect to grow and realize his or her true potential.

November 20 is a day to tell a child you care.  A day to remind the children in your life that they are loved, valued and important to you.

Nycomed Canada has chosen to recognize Universal Children’s Day through a partnership with Boys and Girls Club Canada – an organization that celebrates and nurtures the minds, bodies and spirits of young people.

This year, Nycomed and the Boys and Girls Club Canada celebrate Universal Children’s Day with an art contest, inviting Boys and Girls Club children to draw a picture to share their image of the world on this special day.

The winning entry (seen below) was drawn by 11 year old Maha, from the Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club, and will be the image used on Nycomed’s Holiday Card in 2010. To celebrate Maha’s achievement, Nycomed will make a $5,000 donation to Maha’s Boys and Girls Club to help fund the Club’s programs and activities in 2011.

We invite you to share Maha’s picture with friends and family by forwarding this link.
