12.April.2011This is the fourth consecutive year that Nycomed has received this prestigious ranking.
Nycomed Canada has once again been ranked as one of the best places to work, coming 7th in the 2011 list of Canada’s Best Workplaces, an annual survey conducted by the Great Place to Work® Institute of Canada, Inc (GPTW).
The Best Workplaces list profiles 100 Canadian companies that have been shortlisted from more than 230 qualifying companies across the country. Companies are selected through a detailed employee survey that looks at how employees view their workplace, as well as an audit of the corporate culture, values and philosophies that shape the relationship between the company and their employees.
"We are delighted that once again we have received this prestigious designation," says Mike Egli, the new CEO of Nycomed Canada. "Of all our awards this is one that gives us the greatest sense of pride as it truly reflects how our employees – our most valuable asset – feel about the company they work for. To be the best, we must attract and retain the best talent in Canada. At Nycomed we do this by providing an enriching work environment that makes our staff feel good about coming to work and being the best they can be. This award proves that we truly walk the talk and deliver on our employee promise."
A great place to work is one where you trust the people you work for, have pride in what you do and enjoy the people you work with. Nycomed has developed a number of programs and workplace practices to foster this type of environment including: rewards and recognition programs, flex time, a true commitment to staff work-life balance, a casual and collaborative environment, effective internal communications and a strong community relations and social responsibility program.
About the Best Workplace Rankings
For this year’s awards, the judges for the Best Workplaces in Canada assessed a total of 43,497 employees from more than 230 Canadian qualifying businesses ranging in size from 50 – 999 employees for medium size companies and 1,000 or more employees for large size companies.
Two thirds of the company’s score comes from employee responses to the ‘Trust Index’ an online survey that measures how employees perceive their workplace. One third of the final score is derived from the ‘Culture Audit’, a detailed questionnaire that examines the core values and philosophies that underpin the company’s people practices and the interactions between the company and its employees.
The winners of the 2011 Best Workplaces in Canada were announced in a special report published in the Globe and Mail on April 12, 2011 www.globeandmail.com
