Nycomed's representative office in Russia was established in 1993. Today Nycomed is present in 120 cities and regions in Russia and the CIS, employing around 1,400 people. Nycomed’s net turnover in Russia/CIS increased by 30.5% to €479.3 million in 2010. Russia accounted for approximately 72.8% of the net turnover generated in the region.
In 2009 Nycomed announced its decision to invest in building of a new manufacturing plant equipped with state-of-the-art technologies in Yaroslavl, Russia. On 18 June 2010 in the frame of the visit of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to the Yaroslavl region the groundbreaking ceremony of the future Nycomed plant took place.
Total volume of investments in the new production will be around 75 million euro. Nycomed plant will manufacture tablets and sterile liquids in ampoules and vials. New facility will produce medicines that matter for the Russian market, among them: Cardiomagnyl, Actovegin and Calcium D3 Nycomed.
