Nycomed Milestones

history

1874. Pharmacist Morten Niegard founded Nyegaard & Со (Nyco) in Scandinavia. 100 employees. Company’s research is concentrated in organic chemistry/synthesis and later diagnostic reagents areas.

1913. Nycomed sets up own production and Globoid anesthetic launch.

1984. The company employs about 500 employees. Nycomed is named "Company of the Year" in Norway for contrast media research. Actovegin is registered in the USSR.

1993. Opening of Nycomed's representative office in Russia. Nycomed acquires a number of pharmaceutical companies in Norway Denmark, Austria and Benelux countries.

1994–1996. Nycomed works on integration of the acquired companies into one unified corporation. In 1996, Sana-Sol, a pioneer of the Scandinavian vitamin brands is launched on the Russian market.

1997. Nycomed Imaging merged with Amersham International plc. (UK). Launching of Calcium D3 Nycomed on the Russian market.

1998–2001. Russian medicines portfolio is extended with Xefocam (1998), Nazivin and Gerimax (2000), Concor (2001).

2003. 10 years anniversary of Nycomed presence in Russia. Curosurf is launched on the Russian market. Nycomed acquires Оу Leiras Finland Ab and enlarges the presence in Europe by entering the UK, Italy and Poland markets. Nycomed launches Glucophage on the Russian market.

2008. 15 years anniversary of Nycomed presence in Russia. Nycomed-Russia is ranked 14th among “Best Employers in Central and Eastern Europe”, according to Hewitt Associates research.

2010. On June 18th in the frame of the visit of the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to the Yaroslavl region groundbreaking ceremony of the future Nycomed plant took place.

2006. Nycomed is ranked 9th among TOP-10 pharmaceutical companies in the hospital and retail sectors on the Russian market, including DLO. Nycomed acquires Altana Pharma, German-based company, and expands the products portfolio with anti-gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases medicines.

2009. Nycomed announced to invest 75 mln euro in building of manufacturing plant in Yaroslavl, Russia.

2010. in the frame of the visit of Chairman of the RF Government Vladimir Putin to the Yaroslavl region the groundbreaking ceremony of the future Nycomed plant took place.
