In June 2010 in the frame of the visit of the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in the Yaroslavl region the groundbreaking ceremony of the future Nycomed plant took place, Jostein Davidsen, President, Nycomed Russia/CIS represented the project to the Prime Minister.

The plant will be specialized at manufacturing of sterile liquids (in ampoules and vials) and solid forms (in tablets). Medicines that matter to the Russian market will be manufactured on it: Cardiomagnyl, Actovegin and Calcium D3.

Total volume of Nycomed`s investments in the plant building is now estimated at 75 mln euro. At the first stage around 150 job places will be created at the plant. Investment project is realizing with support of Yaroslavl region Government and Administration of Yaroslavl. The new plant will manufacture medicines for the market of Russia/CIS region that is almost 10% from the total company`s turnover and plays an important role in the growth strategy of the company. The plant will meet both Russian standards and standards of good manufacturing practice (GMP). Production is designed to be expandable. In future plant will be able to produce in-licensing products, production will be flexible enough to manufacture different medicines, add new products and adhere to latest safety and environmental standards.

Along with the plant building in Yaroslavl Nycomed company in partnership with the government of Yaroslavl region realizes project in sphere of secondary professional education. This program on the base of chemical-technological college is aimed at education of qualified specialists for all pharmaceutical plants in Russia complying with GMP standards.
